It is suggested to perform this procedure at the Sync server. If the Sync server is not available and the update must be run from a client computer, be sure to copy the firmware software file to a local directory of the client. Do not try to navigate to a location of the file on the server while performing the update from a client computer.
Downloading Firmware to the Sync Server:
- Download the tablet firmware below, making sure to unblock the file after the download completes.
- Unzip the file and copy imxSE.rkt to the desktop of the server.
Updating Firmware to the Tablets:
- In Sync Office, click on the Lanes Tab.
- Click on the Update Devices button.
- Click on a tablet(s) to update. (Note: You can hold down shift on your keyboard to select a range of tablets or hold down ctrl to select individual tablets). Click Update Firmware.
- Navigate to the location of the firmware.
- Double-click on the firmware file or click Open once to start update.
- The tablet will update and reboot. This process can take up to 5 minutes per tablet, so allocate time according to complete.
Verify Update at the Tablet
Note: This step is generally not required with the currently Sync releases but can be used if verification is needed.
- Tap the tablet to activate the screen, then enter the maintenance code.
- Select Exit to Android.
- From the bottom of the screen, swipe your finger up to bring up the application menu.
- Select Settings.
- Scroll down and select System.
- Select About Tablet.
- The Build Number section at the bottom of the screen should indicate the following:
- Hardware version: S6/software version:7.0.1
- Press the back button in the upper-left corner 2x.
- Swipe up on the Settings screen.
- Swipe up to close the settings screen.
- Tap the remaining app screen (will be blank) to return to the Bowler Console app.
