Pinsetter Controller Firmware Update Process

The purpose of this document is to guide the end user through the process of updating the firmware on the various Pinsetter Controller devices that interface with Sync. This document is assuming the location is running Sync 3.9 or later.

 

All pinsetter firmware updates are handled from Sync Office and are sent down by lane pair.

Steps to Update Firmware

  1. Open Sync Office
  2. Navigate to LanesUpdate Devices
  3. You will see a list of the devices similar to below.
  4. To determine the proper firmware to use, look at the Version field for the device in question.
    • If the Version field begins with DB7, you will need to utilize the highest firmware number in the drop down for db7.
    • If the Version field begins with String 360.V2, you will need to utilize the highest firmware number in the drop down for String360V2.
    • If the Version field begins with GS-X 360, you will need to utilize the highest firmware number in the drop down for GS-X360.
    • If the Version field begins with NXT, you will need to utilize the highest firmware number in the drop down for NXT-ARM.
  5. Once you have the appropriate firmware selected, click the first lane pair to update.
  6. Click the Update Firmware button.
  7. The processing screen will appear for a few moments, then either present a Success message or an error if the system:
    • Is unable to communicate to the device on the network.
    • The wrong firmware is selected to be sent to the device.
  8. Once you have the Success message, click OK. The device will update in the background and should show the new version on the screen within 2 minutes.
  9. Repeat for all other devices.
  10. Once all devices are updated, click Exit.

This completes the firmware update process.
