Backing Up Your System
It’s important to back up the data in your machine regularly to prevent loss of information. You can backup most data on the Authority22®/ENVOY/ENVOY+ to an external drive using the USB port on the control box. This capability lets you back up most information on the system in one step. You can save up to five previous system backups. You can backup this data on a PC computer by using the USB flash drive to transfer the data into the PC USB port.
To backup your system:
- Plug a USB flash drive into the GUI’s USB port. The Import/Export screen appears.
- Use the left/right arrows to select “export” and press “OK.”
- Use the up/down arrows to select the backup folder you want to save to and press “OK” to start the backup.
NOTE: Only the 10 patterns in the active GUI memory are saved when you backup or export data to the USB flash drive.
CAUTION! Never remove the USB flash drive from the USB port if the light on the drive is still flashing. Doing so could damage the file system on the USB flash drive. When the text on the GUI returns, it is safe to remove the USB flash drive.
Transferring patterns to the Pattern Manager
To move backup patterns to the Pattern Manager:
- Place the USB drive in an open USB port on your computer. The Pattern Manager software will locate the port and display the backup files and pattern names in the USB List window.
- Select the pattern you wish to move from the USB drive to the Pattern Manager list.
- Select the category you wish to move the pattern to.
Click the Copy to Library button if you wish to leave the original version on the USB drive (copy and paste). Or, click the Move to Library button if you would like to remove the pattern from the USB drive (cut and paste).
Transferring patterns from the Pattern Manager to the USB drive
To move patterns from the Pattern Manager:
- Select the pattern from the Pattern list.
- Select the Backup (1-5) number from the pull down menu.
- Select the Pattern Number (1-10) from the pull down menu.
- Click the button Copy to USB Drive and the pattern will appear in the selected backup and pattern number.
NOTE: It is not necessary to have patterns in all of the backup files and/or pattern numbers. Any spaces identified as empty will not affect the active patterns on the lane machine. Only pattern numbers that contain pattern data will overwrite active patterns on the lane machine.
CAUTION! To prevent damage to USB drive or a potential loss of pattern data, always remove the USB drive using the Safely Remove Hardware feature located in your system tray on the computers Toolbar.
Importing Data
You can also import data via the USB port (except for machine-specific data like name of center, date of installation, etc.). This may be helpful if you’ve had a system problem and want to restore your settings from a previously saved backup.
NOTE: This operation will replace the 10 current patterns in active GUI memory, schedules and PINs with older data saved on the USB flash drive. You may want to backup the 10 patterns in active memory as explained above before you import new data. This function saves the entire system data, including the PIN ID number, Pattern Scheduler, Conditioner Selection and Maintenance Logs. Do not import backup data from another center unless you know their PIN ID numbers and intend to change your entire system data file.
To import data:
- Plug in the USB flash drive into the GUI’s USB port. The Import/Export screen appears.
- Use the right/left arrows to select “import” and press “OK.”
- Use the up/down arrows to select the backup folder you want to import and press “OK” to import the files. If there are no backups available, the backup folders will appear grayed out.
CAUTION! Never remove the USB flash drive from the USB port if the light on the drive is still flashing. Doing so could damage the file system on the USB flash drive. When the text on the GUI returns, it is safe to remove the USB flash drive.
Viewing & Printing Patterns Files
You can view and print patterns from the pattern and USB list. This is helpful if you would like to post the pattern for leagues or tournaments or just see the shape of the pattern zones.
To view or print a pattern:
- Double-click the desired pattern you wish to view or print. Or, you may right-click the pattern and select preview.
- Click the button, at the upper left hand corner of the preview window, to print the pattern image.
Categorizing your patterns
The Pattern Manager allows you to organize you various patterns into categories. You can separate patterns by their difficulty level (i.e. Sport, Recreation, etc.) or by your favorites.
To create a category:
- Right-click a pattern you wish to categorize.
- Follow Move to Category and select New Category
- Type in the category name.
- Click the OK button to save the pattern category.
(You may select Parent category if you wish to create a sub-category)
To move a pattern to a category:
- Right-click the pattern you wish to categorize.
- Follow Move to Category and select from the list of categories.
Viewing the GUI logs
The Pattern Manager enables you to view the GUI logs. The logging files are a documented history of the lane machine. Logging files such as the Pattern Change Log, Pattern Run Log, Maintenance Log, Message Log, and Lane Length Log, allow you to see everything that has happened with the lane machine, in chronological order. You have the options to print or to save the file in a different format.
To View GUI Logs:
- Insert the USB drive into an open USB port on your computer.
- Locate and select the backup folder through the Log Location option.
- Select the Folder Number (if you have more than one logging files backup on the USB drive)
