There are 3 ways to update via USB. Please follow the instructions that apply to your needs. 

Type 1 = Update software only

Type 2 = Update both software and firmware

Type 3 = Update firmware only

TYPE 1: INSTALL SOFTWARE ONLY VIA USB

Summary of Steps:

1. Backup pattern info to Brunswick Cloud before updating.
2. Install 7.16.APK directly from USB. 
   1. NOTE - .APK version must match the tablet type you have or it will not install. The .APK files denote the tablet type in the filename. See distinguishing features below.
      1. S5 = Green Android Home Screen; requires downloading Lanemachine7.16s5.apk
      2. S6 = Rainbow Android Home Screen; requires downloading Lanemachine7.16s6.apk 

 Installation of V7.16

 Set up security for a Level II user, if it has not been set up already. Login as that user.

1. Download appropriate .APK file above that matches tablet type. Place this file on a USB. 
2. Exit to the Android OS by navigating to: SYSTEM, SECURITY, “Exit to Android OS”.
3. Navigate to the home menu in the Android OS where you will see numerous applications installed.
4. Insert the USB with Lanemachine716.apk. Open ESFileExplorer App, navigate to the USB drive (usually called “udisk”), and select the Lanemachine716.apk file that matches your tablet type. 
5. Follow the instructions to “INSTALL”. When installation is complete, select "DONE" and remove the USB. Power the tablet off and on.
   • You will likely get a communication error as soon as the installation is complete. Powering off the tablet and powering it back on will re-sync the tablet/enclosure pairing. The tablet will then be ready to begin using 7.16 software. 

TYPE 2: INSTALL SOFTWARE & FIRMWARE VIA USB:

Since both software and firmware updates will be installed in this method, the tablet must be paired to the enclosure or the download will not complete. This process will work for both tablet versions - S5 and S6 - since this zip folder contains both versions of the software. The tablet versions will be able to detect and install the correct versions.

To install both software and firmware:

1. Create a folder titled "UPDATE" on a USB Drive.
2. Download this .zip file. Copy the .zip file onto a USB into the "UPDATE" folder.
2. Insert USB into tablet. 
3. Press "Check for Updates" on tablet on the SYSTEM -> CENTER menu.
4. Select appropriate software/firmware version from USB.  
5. Both software and firmware will be installed.
6. Once install is complete - please wait 60 seconds, and then cycle the power on the lane machine. This will re-pair the tablet/enclosure connection. 
7. Verify the software and firmware versions are correct. This is displayed in the SYSTEM -> CENTER menu under MACHINE INFORMATION. 

TYPE 3: INSTALL FIRMWARE ONLY VIA USB

1. Create a folder titled "UPDATE" on a USB Drive.
2. Download this .bl file and move onto a USB into the "UPDATE" folder.
2. Insert USB into tablet. 
3. Press "Check for Updates" on tablet on the SYSTEM -> CENTER menu.
4. Select the .bl file.  
5. The firmware will now be installed. You will not see any prompts or status animations on the screen. Please simply wait. 
6. Once install is complete, the tablet will reboot on it's own. Please wait 60 seconds after the reboot, and then cycle the power on the lane machine. This will re-pair the tablet/enclosure connection. 
7. Verify the software and firmware versions are correct. This is displayed in the SYSTEM -> CENTER menu under MACHINE INFORMATION.
